Popular Cruiser Classes

To use a Tudor S.C. mooring, boats must be monohulls with no outriggers or floats and need to be 10m or less from the stemhead to the aftermost point of the hull or anything in the normal moored, stowed position, attached to the hull.

The maximum draft is 1.22m.

Power-driven planing hulls are not permitted.

About our Cruiser Section

The club manages 95 moorings on behalf of the 'Langstone Harbour Board' which are found to the north of the club along the Broom Channel. Moorings are managed and allocated by the bosuns committee and mooring holders are responsible for their own mooring gear.

The club has limited availability for winter layup, which is offered to only club mooring holders. Layup availability is prioritised based on the length of membership to the club and the size of your vessel. Every effort is made to bring everyone ashore for winter, but those who are at risk are notified well in advance to allow them to make alternative arrangements.

The club owns a tractor and hoist (rig) which facilitates launching and recovery of cruisers; this facility gives additional flexibility to cruiser owners, allowing boats to be lifted for essential repairs or to be scrubbed.

The club organises a variety of weekend cruises within the Solent which are supplemented by long distance cruises in spring and summer months including Cross Channel and West Country passages.

The cruiser programme includes an active racing schedule, which is well supported. This includes a mixture of racing series and trophy races, both in harbour and in and around the Solent.

Details of Cruiser Cruises for 2018
If you would like to know more about any event, please feel free to email the Cruiser Captain using the email button at the top left corner of this page.

21st April – Ocean Village Cruise
Sail up Southampton Water and moor in Ocean Village marina right in the middle of Southampton. You can walk to West Quay, if the mood takes you, so plenty of options for eating and entertainment. This cruise can be extended to a long weekend if any members want to do so.

12th May – Bembridge Cruise
Sail to Bembridge and moor at St. Helens marina, optional walk on Sunday morning before leaving.

26th May – Spring Cruise to Poole Harbour
The Spring Cruise will head for Poole Harbour on the Saturday. HW is 09:56 4.2m, so we should aim to get on to the Solent at around 09:00 to get the best of the tide.

The plan is fluid at the moment but we will probably anchor off Brownsea Island over the weekend and then try to get up to Redclyffe Sailing Club so that we can explore Wareham. After that we can head to Poole Quay Boat Haven. I would like to head into Christchurch Harbour but have not planned this out yet so am not sure if it will work.

We will sail back to Langstone Harbour on Saturday 2nd June.

16th June – Ryde Cruise
Sail to Ryde and moor in the harbour, optional walk on Sunday morning before leaving.

30th June – Beaulieu Cruise
Sail up the Beaulieu River and moor either in the Bucklers Hard marina or on the mid-river pontoons, depending on your spending preferences.

14th July – Newport Cruise
Sail up the Median River and moor at Newport, only 5 minutes’ walk from the shops and bus station.

July/August – Summer Cruise
After the poor support (and weather) last year, I will be polling cruiser owners before deciding whether or not to run a Summer Cruise this year.

24th August – Swanwick Cruise including Bursledon Regatta Fireworks
Due to the tides, this really needs us to sail to Swanwick Marina on the afternoon of Friday 24th (leave at about 10:30), Saturday we can watch and/or participate in the Burseldon Regatta and then we can watch the fireworks in the evening. On Sunday we sail to either Hythe or East Cowes Marina and then depart on the Monday to sail back to Langstone Harbour.

22nd September – Chichester Marina Cruise
Sail to Chichester Marina, dinner at Chichester Yacht Club on the Saturday evening and sail back on the Sunday. This cruise can be extended to a long weekend if any members want to do so and there are options of cycling to West Wittering for those who have bikes on board.

6th October – Haslar Marina Cruise
Sail to Chichester Marina, dinner at Chichester Yacht Club on the Saturday evening and sail back on the Sunday. Sail into Portsmouth Harbour, moor at Haslar Marina and sail back on the Sunday. There is the option of visiting the nearby Submarine Museum.
