AIMS

The Tudor Sailing Club was founded in 1949 with the object of providing amenities for club members and their boats, to encourage the arts of sailing and seamanship, to promote marine and social events for members and friends.

CHARACTER

Tudor Sailing Club has always been essentially a 'self help' club with members contributing their individual skills and labour to developing the clubs facilities, in order to minimise the cost of our leisure interest.

ADMINISTRATION

Management of the club is vested in an Executive Committee, which oversees policy and financial matters. Delegated responsibilities rest with Sailing, Bosuns, Maintenance and Social Committees. Communication includes Ebb & Flow, our quarterly newsletter.

FACILITIES

The present purpose built Tudor Clubhouse was first occupied in 1990 having been fitted out from a bare shell by the members.

The building enjoys views of the environmentally important Langstone Harbour and is well equipped with changing rooms, showers, bar, galley and workshop with car parking adjacent to the clubhouse.

MOORINGS AND COMPOUND

Tudor Sailing Club hold a license to manage an area between the Eastern Road Bridge and Kendalls Quay, which currently accommodates 100 moorings.

These are drying moorings and are best suited to shoal draft craft with either twin or lifting keels.

Boats with a moored length of up to 10 metres can be accommodated, dependent on an available mooring. Power driven planing hulls and multihulls are unacceptable.

The compound accommodates tenders to boats on club moorings and sailing dinghies. The latter must hold a Portsmouth Yardstick number and be less than 16' 6" length overall. Again multihulls are not accepted.

Launching access to the low water mark is provided by a slipway enabling dinghies to get afloat at all tidal states although it should be noted that cruisers on moorings will dry out for considerable periods, dependent upon tidal and wind variations.

DINGHY SECTION

A full calendar of racing, both in-club and inter-club, is organised all year round. With the Frostbite and Icicle series' during the winter months and racing up to three times a week during the Summer period. The main dinghy racing focuses on Sundays, with Saturday and Friday evening series available in the summer, plus fun events and cadet training.

The club offers a large compound for secure dinghy storage all year round. The long shallow slipway allows launching at all states of the tide, making Tudor SC one of the most accessible clubs in Langstone Harbour.

And for those of you who prefer a more relaxing sail, organised cruising days are featured throughout the year, allowing you to explore the Solent, Langstone and Chichester Harbours accompanied by safety craft.

CRUISER SECTION

Weekend cruises within the Solent are supplemented by longer cruises in Spring and Summer including Cross Channel and the West Country. A cruiser racing programme is also featured in the annual calendar.

FISHING SECTION

Competitions are arranged throughout the Summer season, both between club members and against other clubs in the area.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

The Social Committee arrange a programme of events throughout the year, such as dinner dance, barn dances, discos, BBQ's and live entertainments. The club bar is open Wednesday and Friday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes, plus at other times to suit the social calendar. The bar is manned by trained volunteers which helps to keep the cost of the drinks to a very low level. Please note that smoking is not permitted within the club buildings.
